Use Beowulf as D&D Inspiration

Beowulf, the epic poem, is fertile ground for fantasy RPG game masters—a creature that returns night after night to plague a king, the ripping off of a monstrous hand, the creature’s mother who seeks revenge, and a dragon so powerful the hero dies slaying it.

Beowulf Books:

Beowulf RPG D&D 5e:

  • Beowulf: Age of Heroes (5e) – I hadn’t heard of these before. It’s a huge line of supplements all on DriveThruRPG to give your D&D games the feel of Beowulf.

Beowulf Movies:

  • Beowulf (1999) – Mad Max meets Beowulf! I went back and forth on whether or not I should admit I’ve seen this. Yes, I rented it back in the day. It’s terrible, I think—I don’t remember anything about it.
  • Beowulf and Grendel (2005) – I haven’t seen this, but it appears to depart from the source material.
  • Beowulf (2007) – An insane trip of a weird movie.
